Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
This is the country’s largest mosque—and one of the largest in the world, capable of housing 41,000 worshippers.
An architectural marvel, the mosque features 82 domes, chandeliers gilded with 24-carat gold, over a thousand columns, and the world’s largest hand-knitted carpet. The site’s main prayer hall houses one of the world’s most impressive chandeliers: a piece measuring 10 meters in diameter, 15 meters in height, and weighing 12 tons.

The mosque’s first ceremony, the funeral of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was conducted in 2004.
Visitors’ Tip
The mosque’s 5pm ‘Sunset Tour’ is a perfect way to end a day of shopping and exploration. We recommend visiting the mosque at 4.30pm to take advantage of its scenic views and calming breeze while waiting for the tour to begin.
Opening Hours
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque hosts visitors daily, save for Friday morning, which is reserved for worshippers.

• Sundays to Thursdays at 10am, 11am, and 4:30pm/5pm*
• Fridays at 5pm and 7:30pm/8pm*
• Saturdays at 10am, 11am, 2pm, 4:30/5pm*, and 7:30/8pm*
