Run by the Emirates Heritage Club, the Heritage Village is a historically accurate reconstruction of a traditional oasis village, designed to provide a glimpse into the emirate’s past.
The site is an open museum, where guests can observe traditional aspects of the desert way of life, such as a campfire with coffee pots, a goats’ hair tent, and a falaj irrigation system.
There are workshops where craftsmen demonstrate the traditional skills of metal work and pottery, while women sit weaving and spinning. These artisans are happy to share their skills, and may occasionally give you the chance to try them out for yourself.
The little spice shop found in Heritage Village is a treat—you can get a range of dried herbs, handmade soap and other artisanal delights.
